Getting fake nails ((professionally in a salon))?

i mean like gel and acrylic... i really reallyreally want them.. what are the pros and the cons of getting them... i have heard all different things and i just want to know the truth... how can i convince my mom to let me get them??Getting fake nails ((professionally in a salon))?
Pros - If you like the look of acrylics, they're very nice and you have an instant set of ';perfect'; (but fake) nails.

You get to have someone do them for you and they have a lot of colors to choose from etc.

I prefer the gels when I do get them because they look nice longer particularly when getting a french manicure.

Cons - after about 10 days you can really see where you're going to need a fill, 2 weeks its obvious to others and if you wait beyond that they look like heck and you might have to get an entirely new set.

They will/can/do damage the nail bed to a degree. Yes it can grow out but when you take those nails off your real nails will be weakened significantly.

They cost $$ to keep up.

I've worn acrylics/gel nails on and off over about a 15 year time frame and although I really like the way they look they're simply not practical for me to keep up. The looks do not justify my time having them done or the money to get them done. Now I keep my nails very short and filed smooth with a sheer natural polish and its good enough.

I have 2 daughters (both teenagers) and I would not want them getting artificial nails because of the maintenance and cost that they would incur (because they would pay for them).

Until you make a decision (or your mom does) consider getting a weekly manicure for about a month instead because maybe you'll fall in love with your natural nails more - artificial nails are really not good for your natural nail.Getting fake nails ((professionally in a salon))?
Pros:

-They look absolutely wonderful

-You don't break your nails

-Everytime you look at them you think of how beautiful they are

Cons:

-You could get nail fungus from the electrical filer because

they sometimes don't sterilize them properly.

-They make your nails extremely fragile afterwards when

you take them off, you can actually bend your whole nail

back.

-Be careful taking them off, if you bite them they could

split your whole nail in half cause its so weak and flimsy.

-100% not healthy for your nails at all.

I used to be obsessed with getting my nails done, but

now I realize regular nails are much more beautiful like

celebrities don't get their nails done (acrylic or gel) they

go get them painted etc because its not healthy for fake

nails. But my nails are so weak that sometimes I think

of getting them done.
completely ruin your nails and nailbeds

i did it for month, and it was not a good idea!
Well i wear them all the time just a friend of mine wears them 2 much and never lets her nails air out and they turned green!
okay its not like your getting a tatttoo.

your getting fake nails that will last for two weeks.

the pro is that they always look good.

the con is that you cant open soda cans, etc.
Pros - They look awesome, they come off eventually, there aren't that difficult to take care of, its a great way to pamper yourself :-)

Cons - they can be messy coming off if you dont get them take off the right way at the salon (they will make your nails look like crap), SOMETIMES (if not done corretly) they will fall off

but the pros def. out way the cons here!
